I like the ideas of the sewing rooms they give my some good ideas what to do
very beautiful
My craft room is a work in progress. I have two walls, opposite of each other, that are solid. I want floor to ceiling shelves with cubbies for the fabric boxes, as well as some clear plastic boxes. The plans are drawn, but the materials haven’t been bought as of yet. This week-end they will be here, so hopefully we can get started soon. I have a sewing machine cabinet, it looks like a desk. It will either be in front of the only window or with my back to it. The door is opposite the window. The closet in that room is a food storage area. We also have a futon in there. It’s a work around.
What lovely spaces you have for sewing and crafting in. It seems that when we are more challenged with our lack of space and our desperate need of a space we can claim and call our own, the more inspired and creative we become and find a way fit our own little sanctuary in.
I have done it myself, strictly speaking, we don’t have a spare room. It’s not a very big room. A decent single room.
So I went along with the redecorating as a ‘guest room’ but threw a couple of remodelling ideas into the mix to create more storage……do you see a plan hatching here?
Walls, ceiling painted white. My joiner son created cube shelves in knee high to ceiling alcove- how perfect was that. So much room for all my crafting treasures
Instead of the usual wardrobe, I bought a half glass dresser to show off my favourite fabrics and finds.
I then bought the single bed, this is a guest room after all.
Then my master plan…. I knew I had no space for a bench or a desk to work on.
I I bought a cute shabby chic white dining table, checking the dimensions carefully,
I lifted the table over the bed and pulled my chair up. Perfect.
This is where I use my sewing machine and cut my fabric out.
I have made a roman blind for this bright and well used room.
As a guest room it as been used once……by me, when I was unwell and didn’t want to keep disturbing hubby. Even though space didn’t allow me to push the table completely clear of the bed, it didn’t interfere with my rest.
However if guests were planned its only a matter of eight screws to remove the legs and store the table for the duration.
It would of been such a shame not to take advantage of this space.
Don’t know how old this post is or if you will ever even see this but what an excellent idea. Table over the top of a twin bed. I have the same type room. I will now be looking for a table to fit over the top of my bed also. Thanks so much for the perfect answer to my problem.
I have done this with a sturdy folding picnic table, works a treat. I do have a small desk in the room as well to actually work on but have great space for ‘spreading’ on the table
