Current Pillowcase Count: AllFreeSewing’s Pillowcase Sew-a-Thon for Operation Christmas Child!

Hello lovely sewists,

We’ve been hard at work promoting our Pillowcase Sew-a-Thon for Operation Christmas Child! Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated so far. The best part of the day is unboxing your donations to see the beautiful handmade pillowcases you’ve sent in. Kids around the world will cherish these, and we *sew* appreciate your generous hearts.

What’s our current pillowcase total?

*drum roll*

184 pillowcases!

We’re still working toward 1,000 pillowcases for Operation Christmas Child, so keep sending ’em! Read all about our Sew-A-Thon here. And you can learn all about Operation Christmas Child and how they help kids!

Here are a couple sweet notes we’ve received with donations:

Hello,

My name is Gerri T from Pantucket, RI. I saw the 1000 pillowcase challenge on FB and wanted to contribute! I’ve been sewing since a young girl, but really new to quilting. Self taught via videos on YouTube!

My pillowcases are made with 100 percent cotton fabric and thread. All are filled with love, kisses and hugs for each child!

Sincerely,
G

My name is Rae B and I live in Browns Valley, CA. I’m a member of the “American Serving Guild,” Sacramento Chapter. For several years, we have been making pillowcases to donate to the local foster care organization.

Most of these children go to a foster home with their belongings in trash bags. The goal was 800 pillowcases and we have met that goal for several years. They now have a supply of cases and didn’t need any this year.

Enclosed are the ones that I finished and have been holding them for future needs. This pattern is particularly nice because it has a drawstring to hold belongings. Hope you reach your goal and an update will be posted on AllFreeSewing.

Have you donated a pillowcase?
