Sewing for Kids: Freezer Pop Pockets

Do you or your kids enjoy frozen treats that come in tubes during hot summer days? Do you dread the sticky hands? Do they complain about cold fingers? Well, if so we have a quick fun solution for you to try. Make some Frozen treat holders from craft foam.

This is a great summer sewing project to do with your kids! It’s great for camps, scouts,

AnnMade Freezer Pop Pocket

Materials

  • Craft Fun Foam in sheets cut to approximately 4″1/4 x 5″1/2
  • Sewing machine OR strong needle and embroidery floss
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Instructions

Begin by cutting the sheet of foam to size.

Fold in half length-wise.

Sew along the open edge and the bottom.

Note this can be done on a cooperative sewing machine with a needle intended for thicker materials such as denim, a longer stitch, and less pressure than if you were sewing cotton.

Or sew by hand using a strong needle and embroidery floss.

Cut the top at an angle.

Optional No-Sew Method

Using a Hot Glue Gun, apply hot glue along the edge and bottom of foam edges. Be careful not to burn your fingers by using a tool such as a ruler to hold down the warm edges of the foam to create a good adhesion.
