#SpringIntoSewing

Yesterday was the first day of spring! Here at Seams and Scissors, we’re all really excited about the lighter days and the warmer weather. I know I’ve been getting into the swing of things by cleaning my apartment, one little task at a time. To celebrate the end of a winter that felt like it would last forever, we’re kicking off spring with #SpringIntoSewing week!

Basically, this whole week is going to be dedicated to springtime sewing projects. We’ll be getting into how to organize, some great new clothes to sew for spring, as well as a full tutorial on how to make some DIY fabric storage baskets for all of your de-cluttering needs!

If you end up working up any of these fun projects, or doing any spring cleaning, share a picture on social media and tag it with #SpringIntoSewing – we’d love to see how you celebrate the start of spring! The schedule of posts is as follows:

Day 1 (today!): #SpringIntoSewing: Get Ready for Spring + GIVEAWAY!

Day 2: #SpringIntoSewing: Clean the Clutter with Organization Projects

Day 3: #SpringIntoSewing: 16 Flirty Dresses for Spring

Day 4: #SpringIntoSewing: Get Inspired with Spring Colors

Day 5: #SpringIntoSewing: DIY Fabric Storage Baskets

In addition to all of these love-ly posts (get it?) you also have the chance to win this amazing prize: a bundle of floral-print fabric from FreeSpirit in the “Pretty” colorway for all of your spring sewing needs!

This giveaway has ended! Congrats to our winner, bkick1!

Just this afternoon, I finished a pretty table runner using paper-piecing blocks. I am on a roll trying to use only fabrics in my collection and this one used up several fat quarters that needed a “home”. This is my new spring table runner! I’ve also organized and de-cluttered my sewing room over the weekend. Nothing like a little tidy sewing room to get the creative juices flowing!

I am celebrating by attending several Easter programs at local churches. Last week I attended a stage play, “The Living Last Supper” at a local church. Last night I went to another local church and heard seven different preachers speak seven minutes each on the “Seven last sayings of Christ”. Sunday I will attend services at the church where I am a member and listen to the choir sing an Easter cantata and listen to an Easter sermon. Later that day I will go to a nearby town where my daughter and son-in law are members and hear another Easter sermon. Snacks and finger foods were served at several of the services.
