Winter is a great time of year to work on a new sewing or quilting project. It’s too cold for outdoor activities, and I don’t know about you, but when it gets dark this early I’m usually too tired to do anything too physical anyway. If you’re brainstorming some ideas for new winter sewing projects and don’t know where to start, check out these unique color palettes for winter (with suggested projects for each of them to help you get started)!
Shades of Snow: Gorgeous Winter Color Palettes
Jewel tones always make a return in winter, especially around the holidays. These shades of purple and violet will be stylish all season long (not to mention that amethyst is February’s birthstone)!

Violet Ruffled Scarf
These muted shades of blue and navy are dark enough to be classic no matter what month it is. The watery hues evoke winter without overdoing it, as the darker tones are easy on the eyes.
Absurdly Versatile Scarf
Super Simple Pom Pom Hat
Insanely Easy Infinity Scarf
Let’s face it—neutrals are trendy all year long. In a season where bright holiday colors dominate, though, sometimes it’s more powerful to understate. A neutral dress pattern or purse can go a long way to give your style polish in the colder months.

Pale, colorful tones are my favorite during the winter. They look so sweet among the white snow and transition really well into spring once winter’s over! A pretty ice blue sewing pattern really pops against a dark coat or neutral decor.
